The Present Interest of England Stated. One of two editions, one in 34 pages, the other in 35 pages as here, without established priority. The republican merchant Slingsby Bethel (1617-1697) here advocates the advancement of overseas trade as 'the principal Interest of England', encourages the government to adopt more supportive policies, and implicitly criticizes Charles II for having not already done so.
