The Darien Papers: being a Selection of original Letters and official Documents relating to the Establishment of a Colony at Darien by the Company of Scotland trading to Africa and the Indies. 1695-1700. First edition of this printing of the letters and documents relating to the ill-fated Darien Scheme, Scotland's aborted attempt to found a colony, leading to bankruptcy and necessitating the Act of Union with England. The Bannatyne Club was founded by Walter to Scott to print rare works of Scottish interest, printing 116 volumes between its founding in 1823 and its dissolution in 1861.
