Extraits de l'Examen Critique du Militaire Française, Neatly written and clearly legible manuscript copy of Bohan's important and uncommon work. Originally published in Geneva 1781, "The third volume, including some extracts of the other two was reprinted Paris 1821 under the title of 'Principes pour monter et dresser les chevaux de guerre'" (Huth). The revision was carried out by the astronomer Joseph-Jérôme de la Lande, a friend of Bohan's. It is possible that this manuscript relates to this later revision, produced at l'École d'Instruction des Troupes à Cheval at Saumur it similarly reproduces sections of Volume I and II together with the entirety of Volume III. The signature appended to the title pages has in most cases been deliberately defaced, but that of Vol. III reads "Bussière, M.d.E., chef" (perhaps Maître d'Equitation?). The substantial third volume is entirely concerned with the selection, training and management of horses, particularly in the military context. A handsome manuscript copy of an uncommon text.
