Der isolirte Staat (1826) presents Von Thünen's innovative thought experiment, which investigates the economic impact of the location of agriculture on a state. "Among geographers and location theorists, Thünen is a founding god" (Samuelson, p. 1468). A partial English translation was published in 1960.
