Schumpeter's meticulous arrangement of the statistics produced a work that remains widely cited and "still provides the most comprehensive statistical analysis of British trade in the eighteenth century" (Giorgio Riello, p. 95). It includes a memorial biography of Schumpeter, noting that she "conceived of this volume as the principal contribution she could make to economics and history".
