WASHINGTON, George.

Inquire · Offered by Peter Harrington

Monuments of Washington's Patriotism: First edition of this facsimile of Washington's Revolutionary War account book, issued with related state papers and published to support educational institutions established in his honour. As commander-in-chief, Washington declined a salary, charging only expenses, which he recorded with meticulous care. Two further engravings, of Mount Vernon and Washington's tomb, are sometimes found; Sabin notes multiple institutional copies with them absent, as here, clearly representing a separate issue.
