An elevated landscape view of the city of Newark, New Jersey, from across the bay, showing boats and a train crossing railroad tracks over the water; four vignettes in the lower margin of street scenes at Upper Park, Market St., Broad St., and Lower Park. Edwin Whitefield 1816-1892 born in Dorset, England, arrived in North America in about 1837. The present image resulted from an extended journey in the 1850's. Whitefield's city views carried this type of view to a higher level of accuracy
