Science of Logic. First edition in English of one of Hegel's most important works. Although it is less widely discussed than his first major work, the Phenomenology of Spirit (1807), The Science of Logic lays the foundation of the philosophical "system" of Logic, Nature, and Spirit, which Hegel later described in his Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences (1817), leaving it unclear just how necessary the "introduction" to the system he had earlier presented in the Phenomenology of Spirit might be. Science of Logic was originally published in Germany in three parts between 1812 and 1816, as Wissenschaft der Logik. This translation is based on the edition published by Felix Meiner in 1923.
