Handbuch für das Schutzgebiet Kiautschou ("Handbook for the Protectorate of Kiautschou"). First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author in German on the front free endpaper verso, "To my dear mother, Christmas 1911, Fritz." This comprehensive guide to the laws and regulations of Germany's Kiautschou concession was published a month before the 1911 Xinhai revolution and the subsequent fading away of the system of foreign concessionary areas. Mohr (1881-1936) worked as government translator in the protectorate and later served in the German Foreign Office. His handbook, covering all aspects of daily administration, opens with the 1898 lease treaty and includes a useful table of Kiautschou's revenue, 1902/03-1910/11, The inscription reads "Meiner lieben Mutti, Weihnachten 1911, Fritz." This copy is in a presentation binding, as opposed to the standard binding of red cloth lettered in black.
