Second edition of this enduringly useful atlas, providing detailed maps of every province and incorporating recent surveys of still largely uncharted regions. These are accompanied by maps showing the railway system, forests, and coal resources. The compiler, via his media connections, sourced a large amount of trade and economic output data to appeal to foreign firms operating in Republican China's emerging markets.Edwin John Dingle (1881-1972), known in Chinese as "Ding Le Mei", was a journalist and publisher based in Hong Kong and Shanghai in the early 20th century. He undertook mapping expeditions throughout the Chinese hinterland.
