La Démonétisation de l'argent et la question monétaire, lettre à M. de Champvans. First edition. Dubois-Caplain writes to Champvans, director of the Journal de Macon, to address the question of France's abandonment of bimetallism, a stable exchange rate between gold and silver within the currency, a subject which engendered strong debate in France in the 1860s and 1870. Napoleon established bimetallism in France in 1803, but the country ultimately abandoned it in 1873 and moved instead to a gold standard, as with numerous other nations.
