Éloge de François Quesnay. First edition of this eulogy on Quesnay, giving an account of the physiocratic system, published soon after Quesnay's death in December 1774, and an important contemporary source on his life.Romance, the future Marquis of Mesmon, belonged to a family of royal soldiers and lived in Versailles, where he was employed in the military house of the king. The eulogy "followed the canon of the 'philosophical eulogy' that d'Alembert cherished. [It] concentrated on Quesnay as a physiocrat rather than as a person, and a large amount of the text was concerned with his economic publications" (Théré & Charles, p. 199).
