The Principles of Pleading. First edition of the pro-slavery professor's treatise on the principles of pleading in court, which particularly stresses the importance of procedure.Nathaniel Beverley Tucker (1748-1851) was a strong proponent of states' rights and pro-slavery positions, who, upon taking up his father's old post as professor of law and government at the college of William and Mary, enthused his students with his fiery southern nationalism and secessionist rhetoric. However, his broad approach to legal education also led to calm and valuable contributions to the study of law and government, as with the present work.
