First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title, "For Lady Halifax from Anne Morrow Lindbergh", and inscribed by Charles Lindbergh below, "and Charles Lindbergh and Alice, 1938."Dorothy Wood, Countess of Halifax (1885-1976), was a royal courtier and Vicereine of India between 1926 and 1931. Charles Lindbergh spent time in the UK in 1938, during which period Lord Halifax was Foreign Secretary. The "Alice" in the inscription may refer to the author's aunt, Alice Morrow.Listen! the Wind describes the Lindberghs' 1933 flight from Africa to Brazil undertaken during their survey of North Atlantic air routes. They travelled in Tingmissartoq, the Lockheed Sirius monoplane in which they flew from America to China via the Great Circle Route in 1931.
