1914 and Other Poems. First edition, one of 1,000 copies. The volume is divided into four sections, which include the much anthologized "The Soldier" ("If I should die, think only this of me: / That there's some corner of a foreign field / That is for ever England").Shortly after Brooke's death in 1915, a tribute was published anonymously in The Times by Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty: "The poet-soldier told with all the simple force of genius the sorrow of youth about to die, and the sure triumphant consolations of a sincere and valiant spirit" (26 April 1915).
