Robert Donat won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mr Chipping in the 1939 film adaptation. A musical remake in 1969 starred Peter O'Toole, Petula Clark, and Michael Redgrave.It first appeared in 1933 in British Weekly and April 1934 in The Atlantic. This edition was published in June, and a British edition was published in October.
