Barefoot through Mauretania. First edition in English of this engaging Saharan travel narrative, translated from the French of the previous year. Puigaudeau, a French ethnologist, here recounts her journey across Mauretania undertaken with the photographer Marion Sénones, the pair travelling in disguise as Moorish men. Combining first-hand observation with ethnographic insight, the work records encounters with local communities, landscapes, and material culture, and reflects Puigaudeau's developing interest in Saharan rock art and pre-Islamic traditions. The book was awarded a prize by the Académie Française and helped establish her scholarly reputation.
