POEMS. An unspecified but later printing of this substantial collection by the prominent abolitionist, reformer, and advocate of equal rights for women, first published in 1866. Mrs Gage inscribed this copy: "Merry Christmas Dear Gussie [/] With the sincere regard [/] of the Author [/] Frances D. Gage [/] 178 St. James Pl' Brooklyn [/] Dec 25 1872." Mrs Gage worked closely with Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton, and spent an active career as speaker and organizer, particularly in the Midwest. There is a 1908 ownership signature below the inscription. Uncommon, with a full, signed presentation inscription.
