Shaw, George Bernard:

$1,250 · Offered by William Reese Company

[Typed Letter, Signed, to His Publishers Allen & Unwin]. Shaw, then in his 90s, writes his publishers about delays in production of BERNARD SHAW ON VIVISECTION, noting "I have been waiting so long for the dummy of this book you promised me that I have forgotten everything else about it, and beg for a proof as it now stands before I finally pass it for press." He stresses the need for the dummy to facilitate the design of the dust wrapper, giving details, and requesting either a dummy or specs be sent to Miss Theodora Winsten. He concludes by noting: "I must get this publication off my mind at once, or I shall be dead before it is finally disposed of...." Signed "G. Bernard Shaw." The book finally appeared 23 June 1949. Winsten also executed the rather unpopular illustrations for the 1950 UK edition of BUOYANT BILLIONS.
