Charles Stuart Calverley (1831-1884) was an English poet with a gift for parody, and an aptitude for classical languages. Despite declining health in later years, he produced excellent translations and verse such as Theocritus translated into English Verse. His parodies of other poets are considered benchmarks of their type.
