John McDonald (1906–1998) was an active journalist in a number of fields: business history, game theory, politics, and as his contributions here attest, fly-fishing. The latter interest culminated in his 1997 book, THE ORIGINS oF ANGLING, AN INQUIRY INTO THE EARLY HISTORY OF FLY FISHING WITH A NEW PRINTING OF THE TREATISE OF FISHING WITH AN ANGLE. McDonald also contributed to FORTUNE and provided significant coverage of the Dewey Commission and the American Committee for the Defense of Trotsky.
