Henniker was the first person to climb the Second Pyramid. He travelled from Malta to Alexandria and Upper Egypt, Nubia, and the Oasis Boeris. After revisiting Cairo he went to Mount Sinai and Jerusalem, returning home via Smyrna, Athens, Constantinople and Vienna. The illustrations of Jerusalem and Mount Sinai Convent were engraved by George Hunt after Henniker's drawings. This copy belonged to William St Clair, a well known author and historian.
