The recipient was the great contemporary art dealer John Kasmin, who represented artists as diverse as David Hockney, Frank Stella, and Helen Frankenthaler. A marvellous association copy and, in Chatwin's case, this is something of a rarity. First edition, first impression, inscribed by the author; 8vo; publisher's blue-grey boards, titles to spine gilt, with the unclipped dustjacket; a very good copy in the dustjacket with a touch of fading to spine.
