Smith and Sons purple subscription library bookplate on front pastedown of each volume; very good copy in original mauve cloth stamped in black and gilt. Penzer, p. 95: Burton had a map and a number of photographs for this work, which he forwarded to the publishers, but on February 5, 1877, they were returned, as it was considered that the expense would be too great.
