signed by Churchill on tipped-in note Winston Churchill's signature is on a tipped-in thank you card to the upper, secondary endpaper, sent from Downing Street, thanking the recipient for his or her 80th Birthday 'greetings', which was on 30 November, 1954. The abridged single volume edition of the earlier four-volume work published in the 1950s under the title; History of the English-Speaking Peoples. First edition thus with a tipped-in Downing Street letter-head card printed; 'I thank you for your kind greetings on my eightieth birthday', then signed in ink by Churchill; 4to, (100 x 240 cm); colour plates and further black white illustrations within the text, slight age-toning to text leaves, otherwise near-fine; original full crimson morocco for Asprey Co. Ltd., gilt panelled with gilt botanical devices to spine panels representing Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England, all edges gilt, a fine, very handsomely-bound copy.
