Gann's much-admired memoir of his experiences in the early days of commercial and military aviation in the 1930s to the 1950s. This work takes the form of individual vignettes that read like a novel and mostly notes hair-raising events during air flights. In full black cloth-covered boards with author facsimile signature in gilt to cover, titling and stars on spine in gilt; red topstain. Volume bears original 1961 publication date, but possibly published c.1968-1970s. Jacket with familiar swooping eagle art on cover, back panel and both flaps; Harry Stearns photographic portrait of Gann on back panel. An exceptionally nice copy: clean, bright and unmarked but with mildly rounded cover corner.
