His tables were for a long time the only ones on life expectancies in France" (Smith, p. 530).There are two editions of the Addition, with similar typesetting; no precedence has been established.Provenance: i) late 19th-century bookseller's ticket of Wilhelm Junk (1866-1942), a prominent Czech antiquarian book dealer in Berlin;ii) George Udny Yule (1871-1951), lecturer in statistics at Cambridge, with his bookplate;iii) Royal Statistical Society, with their bookplate and the inscription "presented by Mr G. Uldny Yule June 1907".
