The ABC of Chinese Writing. First edition of this introduction to the Chinese writing system, published to counter the contemporary idea that it was impossible for Westerners to learn the language. It introduces 1,033 characters along with their correct stroke orders, and meanings. The China Inland Mission was founded in 1865 by Hudson Taylor and grew to a membership of over 1,000 workers by 1915.
