Natural History Lore and Legend. First edition of this detailed work on the natural world in folklore. Hulme (1841-1909) was a naturalist and artist best known for his Familiar Wild Flowers. He had "strong antiquarian interests" and wrote several other works on natural history in mythology, and a number on cryptography, heraldry, and symbology in Christian art (ODNB).
