WALRAS, Léon.
£275 · Offered by Peter Harrington · No longer available
Elements of Pure Economics or the Theory of Social Wealth. First edition in English of Walras's masterpiece, US issue. Based on the definitive edition of 1926 and collated with previous editions, it includes three appendices: "Geometrical theory of the determination of prices", "Observations on the Auspitz and Lieben principle of the theory of prices", and "Note on Mr. Wicksteed's Refutation of the English Theory of Rent". The title page of the first edition in German is also reproduced. William Jaffé (1898-1980) was an American historian of economic thought and a significant contributor to the study of Walras. Jaffé published an annotated edition of Walras's scientific correspondence and related papers in 1965, and here appends his own extensive notes to his translation.
