This arts and crafts tract by "the mother of English hand-weaving" presents 10 chapters of recipes, each devoted to a different colour, which demonstrate her mastery of botany and chemistry. The work is an early printing by the Hampshire House Workshops private press, the predecessor to the Saint Dominic's Press.The manual ran to nine editions, and the artist and publisher Douglas Pepler considered the title page "the best he had ever composed" (Coatts, p. 43).
