The Lamentations of Jeremiah. First Gregynog edition, number 154 of 250 copies. The work was produced during Hughes-Stanton's tenure as co-director of the press from 1930 to 1933."The illustrations, the setting of the text and the large wood engraved initials and running heads, printed in blue, all conspire to render this one of the most spectacular books to come from this or any other press" (Harrop, p. 122).Founded in 1922 by sisters Margaret and Gwendoline Davies, the Gregynog Press was one of the leading fine presses of the first half of the 20th century. Following Gwendoline's death in 1954, Margaret donated most of the machinery to the National Library of Wales. The University of Wales reopened the press under the name "Gwasg Gregynog" in 1978.
