Original artwork for Punch: "I Was Never Intended by Nature for a Toreador". Original artwork for Lawrence du Garde Peach's "Summer in Arcady", published in Punch, 11 August 1926, on page 160. This humorous piece of artwork dates from the decade in which Shepard was also working on the Winnie-the-Pooh books.The author and playwright Lawrence du Garde Peach (1890-1974) later wrote the "Adventure From History" series for Ladybird Books. His work was broadcast by the BBC, and he contributed to "Children's Hour". His serial "Summer in Arcady" was published in six instalments in Punch between 21 July and 1 September 1926.
