History of Later Years of the Hawaiian Monarchy and the Revolution of 1893. First edition of this first-hand account of the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in January 1893 by Alexander, a member of the privy council to King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani. Writing from within the royal administration, he records the queen's attempt to restore monarchical authority and the subsequent seizure of power by the annexationist Committee of Safety, supported by American troops. The narrative reflects the immediate aftermath of the coup and the failed efforts of President Grover Cleveland to secure the queen's restoration following the findings of the Blount Report, ultimately resisted by the provisional government under Sanford B. Dole.
