Wuthering Heights, and Agnes Grey. With a preface, and memoir of both authors, by Charlotte Brontë.
£400 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
A late-nineteenth century reprint of this great classic of English literature, originally published in 1847. ‘Wuthering Heights is perhaps the finest example [of nineteenth century Gothic writing], articulating as it does the terrible possibility of a passion so intense as to transcend the barrier that separates the living from the dead’ (McGrath). A very good copy, a few tiny spots to edges of text-block, light wear to extremities with chipping at ends of spine, front hinge cracked and slightly tender, a few small patches of white marking to cloth.
