ANON. Riviera Palace, Nice. Original hotel luggage label, c.1929. 120 x 120 mm. The Riviera Palace Hotel was designed by architect Sebastian-Marcel Biasini in 1889. The hotel was located on a one hectare park on Boulevard de Cimiez. The hotel was owned by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagon-Lits (CIWL). By the 1920's Nice had become very popular not just as a Winter resort but also a Summer destination. CIWL had introduced the Calais-Mediterranee Express (Blue train) in 1886 which carried most of the wealthy customers staying at the various palace hotels.
