Edison (1898-1992), the youngest child of Thomas Alva Edison and a noted inventor and businessman in his own right. Analog computers are those that use continuously variable phenomena, such as electrical voltages or hydraulics, to model the problem under consideration, rather than representing data as discrete ones and zeros. The present volume was written for a UCLA course by two engineers at the Ryan Aeronautical Company, which supplied the radar system used in the Apollo Lunar Module and was later incorporated into Northrup Grumman.
