Compiled by A. F. Veltman, an art historian and weapons researcher, this is a comprehensive study and description of one of the oldest and most significant museums in Moscow – the Armory Chamber. Notably rare, Berezin wrote that it is a 'great rarity...with many drawings on separate sheets, executed in paint and gold, as well as woodcuts in the text. This edition is the best of its kind published'. 8vo (25 x 17.5 cm); lithographed title, 13 plates and some illustrations in the text, some foxing, more so to prelims, faint water stain to a few leaves; contemporary red half morocco over marbled boards, spine with raised bands, title in gilt in Cyrllic to sexond part, boards a little scuffed, corners slightly bumped, a very good copy.
