Small octavo (7 1/4" x 5") bound in original publisher's orange cloth with black lettering to spine married to an original later British edition pictorial jacket. First Canadian edition. Newly married to novelist Rosie M. Banks, Bingo bucks the current trend by being extremely happy, although he does tend to lose his shirt on various horses. This collection of wonderfully funny stories features a cast of outrageous characters. Most of the stories feature regular characters: Drones Club member Bingo Little, Mr Mulliner, Ukridge and, in the US edition, Freddie Widgeon and the Oldest Member. Missing from the US edition were "Romance at Droitgate Spa" and "All's Well with Bingo", which had been included in The Crime Wave at Blandings (1937). Condition: Former library copy with stamps to both pastedowns and end papers, pocket removed form back pastedown. Minor uneven sunning to backstrip; spine ends lightly rolled and worn; a bit of soiling to front board; light wear along board edges. Evidence of dog-earing scattered throughout interior. Jacket generally a bit rubbed, soiled, and edge-worn, with nicking at spine and flap fold ends; spine panel just a touch sunned; soft creasing near edges and along folds; a bit of foxing at verso else a good copy in good to very good jacket.
