Sixth-plate daguerreotype with applied colour, 68 x 54 mm (sight), in an oval brass mat, housed in a leather case with embossed geometric design, with a working brass clasp; the daguerreotype is in fine condition, as is the case. An unusually intimate and informal portrait for the period; the young gentleman s rakish personality shines through.
