American composer (1813-1864), music critic, and journalist; the first in the USA to composer for large orchestra and get his own operas publicly performed. Piece of paper with his signature and a short text dated in New York, 1858, mounted on the first page of the score with selections from his opera Leonora (1845) published by E. Ferrett Co. (Philadelphia). Size is 10.3 x 13.3 inches, 12 pages, soft covers, water stains on score, front cover a bit loose but in overall very good condition.
