Pierre-Raymond de Brisson was a French naval officer and author known for his detailed account of being shipwrecked and enslaved in Africa, published as Histoire du naufrage et de la captivité de M. De Brisson . In 1785, Brisson was shipwrecked off the coast of Senegal and subsequently captured by natives. His account provides an early, detailed, and often perilous look into the region, sometimes included in collections like Perils and Captivity . He was enslaved briefly before escaping and settling in Morocco, documenting his experiences in a book often published alongside the travels of Mess. Saugnier.
