Sydney : Printed by Horatio Wills for the executors of R. Howe, 1832. Small octavo, original blue paper wrappers, lightly creased, 8 pp, a fine, original copy. Ferguson, 1508. The Australian College for boys was established in Sydney by the Reverend John Dunmore Lang in November 1831. The Presbyterian teaching staff were recruited from Scottish universities, and the post-elementary curriculum was one of the first of its kind in the colony. Subjects were initially taught at hired premises in George Street, and later in a specially constructed building near the Presbyterian Church in Jamison Street. The school was open throughout the period 1831 to 1841, and again between 1846 and 1854, when it was finally closed. A very scarce pamphlet, of which only three copies are recorded in Australian collections (State Library of New South Wales; Deakin University Library; Royal Australian Historical Society Library).
