Al molto rerendo P. Claudio Acquaviva del primo Decembre 1600 . Venice : Giovanni Battista Ciotti, 1602. Duodecimo, modern panelled red calf, spine in compartments with gilt decoration; edges speckled red; pp. 86; title with woodcut Jesuit device, decorated initial; scattered light foxing, a very good example. First Italian translation (from the Portuguese) of the annual Jesuit report concerning missionary activity that had taken place in 1599 in Goa, Bengal, the Punjab, Arakan and Pegu (Burma), Malacca, Ethiopia, and elsewhere. The report was compiled by Nicolau Pimenta (1546-1614), Visitor to the East Indies, from letters written by missionaries in the field, of whom perhaps the most notable was the Spanish Jesuit P. Jerome Xavier (1549-1617), missionary to the Mughal court of Akbar (1542-1605) and his son Jahangir. Silva VI, p. 291; Lach 1, p.275
