First English translation of this monumental treatise on the Council of Trent, the major work of Venetian Servite friar, historian and polymath Paolo Sarpi (1552-1623). In 1619 Sarpi s Istoria del Concilio Tridentino was printed in London, published under the pseudonym Pietro Soave Polano (a slightly modified anagram of Paolo Sarpi Veneto).
