Octavo, lettered wrappers (stained and worn, corner clipped), contemporary owner s name of D. P. Ford to upper wrapper and title leaf, dated Philadelphia 1878, corners creased, a few pen annotations, internally clean. Preface by Luke Rivington, M. A., Society of S. John the Evangelist. The author was born a Brahman Mahratta, and after a Hindu education in Benares (Varanasi) later converted to Christianity and became a Clergyman of the Church of England. Very scarce.
