Albumen print photograph, 155 x 205 mm; verso with fully contemporary inscription in pencil Railway Station, Newcastle, N.S.W. ; the print has a few tiny marks and the lower left corner is chipped; unmounted. Newcastle s main railway station had originally been located at Honeysuckle Point. This is an early view of the new station, which opened in December 1878. The photograph was taken from the Customs House and looks west-southwest.
