A group of five original documents that chart the history of Henry George Baker as a Freemason in Hong Kong. Baker arrived in Hong Kong from Bristol in 1882 and worked in the Hong Kong Police Force until 1913, when he retired at the age of 52 with the rank of Chief Inspector. I. Grand Lodge of Mark Masters of England and Wales and the Colonies and possessions of the British Crown. (His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Grand Master). Certificate recording the advancement of Henry George Baker of the United Lodge No. 419, Hong Kong, to the degree of Mark Master, on 10 December 1892, issued in London on 22 February 1893. Folio (370 x 300 mm); printed in black on parchment, with ms. entries in black ink, Lodge s embossed seal in red lower left; minor insect damage at lower edges, otherwise very good condition. II. Order of Royal Arch Masons of England, District Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Hongkong South China. (Catchick Paul Chater, Grand Superintendent for Hongkong and China). Certificate recording the appointment of Henry George Baker of the United Chapter, Lodge No. 1341, to the Office of District Grand Deputy Director of Ceremonies, issued at Victoria, Hong Kong on 28 April 1905. Large folio (460 x 310 mm); printed in blue and red, with ms. entries in black ink, Chapter s stamp seal at lower margin; upper corner with light stain, otherwise fine condition III.
