Fuchsia Dunlop calls Caroline Eden “one of the most brilliant travel writers of her generation,” and it’s absolutely true. For all the enticing recipes here Eden is also providing us with a powerful sense of place and adventure, wandering with purpose through valleys and towns, visiting markets, meeting home cooks, seeing historic sites. It’s a very different sort of introduction to cuisines.
