Quarter plate daguerreotype with applied colour, 110 x 80 mm (sight); in an oval brass mat stamped W. S. PORTER / 4th VINE, CINCINATTI ; ormolu preserver; housed in a thermoplastic case lined with crimson velvet (Berg 1-45 Lyre in Wide Portal 2 (S), engraved by R. Payne); the daguerreotype has some tiny mould spiders but is otherwise superb, as is the case.
